Plant trees with Carbon Footprint Ltd in the UK or in Kenya's Great Rift Valley. Through our Tree Buddying system, every tree is paired with one tonne of CO2 saved through a VCS-certified project, so your contribution delivers a verified carbon saving while the trees grow.
We plant trees in two places. Both include Tree Buddying; they differ in what else your trees achieve for nature and people.
Native species planted across the United Kingdom, restoring local woodland and wildlife habitat. The UK is also where we run corporate tree planting days, so your team can plant alongside us.
Reforestation in Kenya's Great Rift Valley, restoring vital habitat and creating employment and more resilient livelihoods for local communities.
You don't have to choose just one. Plant in the UK for local impact and staff engagement, and in Kenya for community benefit overseas.
Trees are one of the best long-term carbon stores on the planet, but a newly planted sapling absorbs very little CO2 in its first years. Most of its carbon uptake happens over decades as it matures, so it can't be counted against the emissions your organisation produces today.
That is why we created Tree Buddying. For every tree you plant with us, one tonne of CO2 is also saved through an internationally certified carbon reduction project under VCS (the Verified Carbon Standard). The VCS tonne provides the verified carbon saving now; the tree provides a long-term carbon store, wildlife habitat and community benefits as it grows.
If you refer to tree planting in your environmental claims, base any carbon figure on the verified VCS tonne rather than on the tree itself. Find out more about Tree Buddying or read our guide to carbon offsetting.
Trees improve air quality, conserve water, protect soil and support wildlife. Planted in the right place with the right species, a woodland delivers benefits for generations.
Through photosynthesis, trees take CO2 out of the atmosphere and store carbon in their wood, roots and soil. Some oaks live for over 1,000 years, so a woodland planted today can remain a carbon store for centuries.
The Net Zero StandardBy planting native species, our projects restore habitats for wildlife and help reverse biodiversity loss.
UK tree plantingOur projects create employment and sustainable livelihoods for local communities, helping them become more resilient to climate change.
